APPY Hour at YHS..
Leading up to the final student iPad rollout (yes, carts, not 1:1 :-( ), APPy Hour has been a great success, serving to help staff become familiar with specific apps tailored for use in the classroom. Now that the iPads have been rolled out into 5 specific content-area carts and a few other areas, and have begin to be used in classrooms, Steph and I would like to change the focus of APPy Hour. We would like to become a teacher-centered forum, whereby teachers are encouraged to share their success stories, best practices, and suggestions with certain apps they have used. APPy Hour sessions would continue to be 15-20 mins in the afternoon, perhaps twice a month only. Calendar of projected topics to be published here!
May "Apps of the Week"...
Presented by Tina Jovanovich, MindMeister is the one and only mobile mind mapping app you'll ever need. Whether you're using it in the boardroom, the classroom, the presentation hall, or the lunch meeting, MindMeister can help you organize, prioritize, and even generate new thoughts.
April "Apps of the Week"...
Infuse Learning (infuselearning.com) is actually not an app! This website is similar to Socrative, but has so many more options. Infuse Learning allows you to ask questions that take on a variety of formats including asking students to draw pictures. It offers multiple language options that will read your questions aloud to students or translate them for students depending on how you want to use it. It is a cool website that you can easily use on your iPad, iPhone, computer or Android device that allows you to easily deliver and save assessments.
