Where can I find iBooks Author at YHS?-iBooks Author requires Mac OS 10.7.4 or higher. The app is loaded on 3 Mac desktops in the World Language Lab and 3 desktops on the Art lab for now. Unfortunately, it cannot be loaded on the MLTI teacher laptops (which run OS 10.6.8) nor the MacBooks on the carts at this time. Stay tuned for more access. -The 6 Mac desktops are intended to be used by students and teachers to give iBooks a try! They can publish their works to the iTunes bookstore for download to an iPad. -Teachers - consider downloading the iBooks Author app on your home Mac if you are running OS 10.7.4 or greater! - iBooks Author is great tool to strengthen students' interest in writing and self-publishing..great for hitting a variety of CCSS and 21stC benchmark skills. Consider the content area possibilities for language arts, social studies, world language, science, health, math, and the arts: |
Items to know...1. You need an Apple ID to use iBooks Author. 2. Sign-in to the Mac desktops running iBooks Author with your regular YHS network account...items worked on in Author will be saved until your next session. 3. See Mr. Thompson for details or help on how to publish your works to the iTunes bookstore. FYI - You can also easily create e-Books for viewing on the iPad in Pages, called "ePubs"...it is an export feature in Pages. The exported ePub book can then be transferred to a number of iPads on one of our school iPad carts via iTunes for students to peer review. See Mr. T for details. You do not need iBooks Author for this. |
